Welcome to The Roebuck Pub and Restaurant
Winchester’s Own Family Favourite!
Here in the centre of one of the country’s most ancient and historical cities and only five minutes’ walk from the railway station, can be found a real gem of a pub and restaurant.
The Roebuck offers each and every customer a truly memorable drinking and dining experience in warm and inviting conviviality.
Run by Gary Swan, Janet Graham and a team of dedicated staff, every care is taken to ensure that nothing is too much trouble and that every visitor will feel comfortable, at ease and, above all, well looked after.
It’s the perfect venue and meeting place for locals seeking relaxation, refreshment and respite from everyday cares – families, young professionals and senior citizens alike.
Where better to enjoy a pre-prandial sherry, single malt – or maybe a foaming pint of England’s best – than in the Roebuck’s tastefully decorated and furnished saloon bar?
And the restaurant service? Where quality and value for money are concerned, this is second to none in the locality. Customers relaxing over a drink can peruse the menu and wine list at leisure before making their choice from a tempting selection of delicious home-cooked food. The menu includes a sensibly-priced ‘House Favourites’ section available Monday to Thursday offering a choice of tasty main course dishes at only a fiver a time! Another attractive feature is the ‘Veg Shed’ where locally-sourced fruit and vegetables plus delicacies like local honey can be found. There’s also a ‘Specials Board’ displaying that day’s selection of the chef’s very own specialities.
At the Roebuck there’s a very real danger that the customer might be spoiled for choice!
Opening hours are designed to be customer-friendly. The pub is open seven days a week between 11.00am and 11.00pm.
Food service is available on Monday to Friday lunchtimes between 12 noon and 2.00pm and for evening meals between 6.00 and 9.00pm.
We serve food from 12 noon - 9.00pm on a Saturday, and from 12 noon - 8.00pm on a Sunday.
Employing only properly trained staff is something that’s taken seriously by the Roebuck’s management. Gary himself is an ex-Royal Navy chef who is always ready to pass on the benefit of his training and experience to those who have chosen to take up a career in catering and hospitality. As he recollects:
“Janet and I were enjoying a successful residency at the ‘King Alfred’ when the brewery invited us to take on the Roebuck, which – as they put it – needed some ‘tender loving care’. We leapt at the challenge and have relished every minute of the whole experience of getting this wonderful old pub back on track and bringing the right team of staff together.”
Why not pop in to the Roebuck and see the results for yourself? The restaurant is ideal for small parties – weddings and christenings etc – and Gary or Janet would be delighted to sit down and discuss your plans with you.
In the meantime, from all of us at the Roebuck, a sincere message:
Come and visit us soon!
